Nepal Telecom is providing free Wifi in Kathmandu. It is a good news for people specially like me. Nepal Telcom is currently setting-up Wifi Hotspots at various places around Kathmandu. So for testing of hotspots Telecom is giving free Wifi.
Telecom aims to install Wifi Hotspot in country’s various 500 places by
the end of the year. At this time Telecom has started providing free
access to Wifi at places like Tribhuban International Airport (TIA),
Teaching Hospital (Maharajgunj), Sahid Gangalal Ridhya Rog Kendra
(Bansbari), Bir Hospital and Basantapur Durbar Square & Telecom’s
offices in Kathmandu.
Debendra Khatiwada, an official of Nepal Telecom says, “Nepal Telecom is now under testing of internet
service of which Wifi Hotspots at 1500 various places are going to be
installed.” Earlier Telecom (while starting Wi-Max service) told that it
will operate or setup 1500 hotspots. Khatiwada added, “People can use
free Wifi internet during Telecom’s WiMax internet test. This time Telecom is testing Wifi Hotspot Billing System. So, for some months or untill the completion of this test, people can surf Nepal Telecom’s internet for free.
One can surf the free internet from Cellphone, Laptop, iPad or any wifi
enabled device. Though we need a seperate device to use WiMax internet, we can surf directly from our smartphones, iPhones, iPad, tablets and such wifi enabled gadgets while at Hospital.
